Smithville, MS – We are pleased to advise the classification of the Town of Smithville, MS changed from Eighth Class to Seventh Class.
This public protection classification applies to eligible properties located with the legal boundaries of the Town, within five (5) road miles of the responding fire department serving the Town and within 1, 000 feet of a standard public fire hydrant. Properties not within 1,000 feet of standard public hydrant will receive the split classification (7X). Please see attached a copy of the letter to provide to your homeowner insurance carrier or a copy may be obtained at town hall.
Residential Storm Shelter Registry Form
This program is being initiated by the Smithville Police Department. The purpose of the Storm Shelter Registry is to provide a database of storm shelter locations in Smithville Mississippi to assist emergency agencies in providing aid to victims of severe weather. The registry will be a valuable tool for emergency agencies in locating and assisting residents that may have been trapped in their storm shelters by tornado debris.
