Board Meetings

The Smithville Board of Aldermen holds Regular Board Meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at Town Hall.  If a state or federal holiday falls on the Monday prior, the meeting will be scheduled for the following Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Recessed Board Meetings may be scheduled during a Regular Meeting and typically begin at 6:00 p.m.  These meetings are announced publicly during the Regular Meeting and posted in accordance with state law.

Special Board Meetings may be called as needed and will be announced in compliance with Mississippi Open Meeting Law.  Notice of Special Meetings will be posted at least 24 hours in advance, stating the time, place, and purpose of the meeting.  No business outside the posted agenda may be discussed.

If you would like to be recognized to speak at a Board Meeting, you must submit the request form below no later than the Wednesday before  the scheduled board meeting, in accordance with Mississippi state law.  This ensures orderly proceedings and allows the Board to prepare for public input.  Citizens are encouraged to attend and participate in these meetings to stay informed and engaged in the governance of our town.
