What should I do if my water bill seems unusually high?
We understand that a higher-than-expected water bill can be surprising. Here are a few common reasons your usuage may have increased.
- Seasonal Changes: Water use often rises in warmer months due to outdoor watering, pool filling, or increased laundry and bathing.
- Leaks: Even small leaks, like a dripping faucet or running tiolet can add up quickly. A tiolet leak alone can waste hundreds of gallons per day.
- Guests or Household Changes: Extra people in your home, even temporarily, can significantly increase water use.
- Appliance Use: New or heavily used appliances (dishwashers, washing machines, irrigation systems) may consume more water than expected.
- Meter Accuracy: Your meter records actual usage. If you suspect a reading error, please contact us for a review or re-read.
- Billing Period Length: Some billing cycles may be longer than others, especially around holidays or weekends.
TIP: You can check for leaks by turning off all water sources inside the house and watch your meter. If it continues to move, there may be a hidden leak.
